“You can`t cure bored and angry doing the same things that got you there–you have to try something new.”

“You can`t cure bored and angry doing the same things that got you there–you have to try something new.”

“But, I’m not angry!”, Bilta shouts as he slams his coffee on the small wooden table at the cafe by the beach.

I pause; I roll my eyes.

“Yes”, I reply as I lean back in my recliner, “clearly, you are not angry.”

I roll my eyes again; I turn my head to look out the bay window in the cafe; there’s 12 people surfing and two people sun bathing.

“So”, I continue speaking as I turn my head back to Bilta, “I think that we need to leave this cafe and go on a road trip.”

“Again?”, he replies as he turns his head from the beach to me, “but we just finished the great penguin migration journey.”

“That was work”, I reply as I take a sip from my taza, “this is pleasure. Let’s head out to the lakes of Planet VOMER?”

“Never been there”, he replies as he picks up his coffee and takes a sip.

“It’s nice”, I reply as I turn my head to look back out at the beach; maybe one decent and normal day? Is that too much to ask?

“When did you want to go?”, Bilta asks as he picks up a napkin and starts wiping the spilled coffee off the table.

“Um… tomorrow?”, I reply as I turn my head back to him.

“Do I need to bring a bathing suit?”

“No”, I reply as I take a sip of coffee, “just a great attitude.”

I pause; what am I forgetting?

“Oh yeah”, I continue speaking, “and 120 pesos ’cause you’re buying lunch for us, this time.”

“I can do that!”

“Yeah, I know.”

“Are you driving or am I driving?”

You’re fucking driving me crazy, I think to myself.

“I’ll drive”, I reply as I set my taza on the table.

I signal the waiter; he comes over with the bill; I set my digitaltarjeta on the small tray; the waiter goes to the small machine; it beeps; he returns to me; I take my digitaltarjeta off the tray; I sign the small digitalpaper recept; I scrible in a 15% tip.

“Hey”, I say to Bilta as I turn my head back to him, “I’m going to head out now.  See you at 10am tomorrow.”

“Sounds great, boss!”

I grimmace; I hate when he says that.

“Don’t call me boss, Bilta”, I reply as I stand up, “call me friend.”

“Ok, friend.”

I grimmace; OMG that sounds worse.

“I changed my mind, Bilta.  Call me boss.  See you at 10am tomorrow.”

“Ok.”

OMG he doesn’t stop talking.

“Yeah sure, Bilta. Whatever.”

I pick up my bookbag; I turn my head to look out the window at the beach again; one normal day? Whatever.  I open the door and take a step into the fresh air; beautiful day on Dorinto today.  I reach in my pocket and grab my digitalllaves for the spacejet; I pull out my digitaltelephone; I start writing a message.

Heading home now.  You need anything?

I hit send; and, my wife gets the message nearly instantly; the response comes in 0.925394 nanoseconds.

Eggs

I pause; she always needs eggs. WTF is it with her and eggs?

I start typing the message; I pause; do I really need to say anything.  I open the door on the spacejet; I look back down at my digitaltelephone and the blank message responding to her. I pause; I sigh; let it go.
